Missoula County Extension horticulturist Helen Atthowe reaches

for a pheromone-saturated twist tie on an apple tree at Benson's Farm. Atthowe says the ties offer an alternative to pesticide spraying by disrupting the mating habits of the codling moth, which spends its larval stage inside of the fruit.
