Moving to Montana
Submitted by jackiemrobinson on Fri, 09/14/2007 - 12:45pm.
My husband and I are looking at moving to Montana, (Missoula Area) in the spring of 2008. He is a contractor and is looking at learning the log home trade. I am a massage therapist. Any suggestions on gyms, spas, salons for work as a LMT and any info you could give about log homes and construction in general. Thanks

Log Homes ???
Jackie,
There is only one name in log homes that stands out in my mind. I would highly recommend Kuhnsbros.com. My home in Lexington, Kentucky was built by the family in 2001. Their website is not only great examples of their work, but it goes into detail for those with so many questions. The climate in Lexington during the summer is very humid, so the kiln dried logs are appropriate for the weather.
I have heard so many horror stories of logs splitting and cracking, that I almost didn't invest in a log home. I have spoken with nearby log homowners that make it a seasonal ritual to begin calking the cracks of the logs with a clear appoxy. They made the mistake of not going with kiln dried logs, as I did.
A Kuhns Brothers log home in Montana would be a great investment. With the current land value at $2000.00 an acre, the dry heat and harsh winter would compliment the surroundings.
I wish you and your husband the best of luck on your Montana adventure in the Spring of 2008.
Take care and God's speed.......P.E. Becknell

Look at a reply to another blog called: "Should we come to Missoula?", that I replied to earlier tonight with some links to helpful sites.
I think I can link it here ... like this: --- See if these URLs help ---
